June 2025 | GamAid Zambia Gambling Addiction Stakeholders Conference
In June 2025, GamAid Zambia organized and hosted the Gambling Addiction Stakeholders Conference, convening national leaders and institutions to address the growing impact of gambling-related harm in Zambia.
The conference brought together representatives from the Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Local Government, Ministry of Justice, and the Office of the Vice President, alongside the University of Zambia, University of Lusaka, ABSA Bank, the Zambia Police Service (Criminal Investigations Department and Victim Support Unit), Chainama Hills Mental Health Institution, Rhodes Park School, and betting industry representatives including Bolabet, BongoBongo, 1xBet, Betway, BetPawa, Betta1, and GSB.
The platform fostered open dialogue on the psychological, financial, and social consequences of gambling addiction, the rise in youth gambling, and the need for stronger coordination and accountability. The conference marked an important step toward structured, multi-sector collaboration in addressing gambling addiction nationally.
